The wonderful world of the accessories designer from KJ. Atelier

We love the aesthetic and graceful accessories from KJ. Atelier. Now we had the opportunity to ask the two designer about their first joint collection “Jardin d’été” and we are happy to present them to you.

Can you tell a little bit about yourself and your collaboration?

We are Jeonga Choi and Hulman Khuvilai, founders and designers of KJ. Atelier. We have been working successfully in the wedding industry for several years. Under our own labels “Jeonga Choi Berlin” and “Kokoro Berlin” we have designed and produced handmade high-quality accessories for modern brides. Luckily, by coincidence our both’s paths crossed. Starting with an initial lateral exchange, we continued to establish a collaboration and we became partners to launch a new label. Now, we sit here together as friends and present you our first collection “Jardin d’été”.

What inspired designs from your “Jardin d’été” collection?

Originally, we only exchanged ideas about what inspired us both to design products for brides. Little by little our thoughts came together and we started to create a shared mood board. We found in our inspirations wide fields of wild flowers, a light summer haze and a touch of French romanticism. Therefore our debut collection is entitled “Jardin d’été” – garden of summer.

What is your favorite piece from the collection?

It is of course difficult for us to say as we love all our products. We can also imagine some great combinations with them. One of our favorite styling options would be to pick the “À Deux Bracelet” with the matching “À Deux Earrings” and the “Bouquet Pin Set” in the hair. All pieces are very timeless, can be wonderfully combined with other jewelry and outfits.

Is there a special trend at the moment?

The most popular items in our collection at the moment are pearl jewelry and simple statement earrings. We think this also corresponds to a general trend. Pearl jewelry is just perfect for weddings and is very timelessly elegant. There are increasingly modern designs with baroque and keshi pearls (such as our À Deux series). As a result, pearls no longer look grandma-like and can also be worn everyday after the wedding. Simple statement earrings match the minimalism trend. Modern brides wear wonderful simple clothes made of the highest quality materials. Sleek cuts and luxurious fabrics define the aesthetics. Of course, this goes well with statement jewelry, which is not too bulky and yet provides an eye-catcher to the outfit, like our Feuille earrings.

What materials do you work with?

KJ. Atelier strive to work sustainably and source our materials from local vendors and work with certified companies. We produce everything in our Berlin studio by hand with great attention to detail. We process brass and 925 sterling silver. The surfaces are gold-plated with 24k gold or silver-plated with 925 sterling silver. We get all crystals from Swarovski.

Do you ship your jewelry to other countries?

We ship internationally and are happy if our jewelry can travel!

Are there any special plans for the future for KJ. Atelier?

We hope that KJ. Atelier will delight many brides worldwide and are already working on another collection. We are excited to see what we can expect and are always happy to receive interest, feedback and support from all – especially from industry voices like yours!

What makes you happy with your work?

We are inspired by our work. We love to develop our creativity and think freely about ideas. As in other areas, not everything tends to work out in design as you imagined. But trying different tools and techniques and finally creating a beautiful product makes you feel very content. And when the products created are purchased, worn and valued by someone, it is all the more beautiful and satisfying.

What do you do when you are not at KJ. Atelier?

We are both mothers and value to spend these moments with our families.
